When You Receive Feedback That Doesn’t Resonate

1 minute read

Have you ever received feedback from someone and thought to yourself, “Wow—she is way out in right field!”?

Maybe you were a bit confused, or it was something no one else has ever said to you. Plus, you really don’t see what they’re saying…

Stay centered and curious (whether you “agree” with it or not) because:

Sometimes, it’s information for you about you.

All of the time, it’s information for you about them.

What does she pay attention to?

What matters to her when she’s working with me/others?

Where is she coming from?

This kind of feedback can still be useful if you don’t ignore it, take it personally, or seek only to agree or disagree.

Put it into practice and let me know how it goes!
